Life is too short to not take chances…
This past week has been very sad for me as two people who were close to me passed away. It’s always difficult to deal with death and for these particular individuals it was too soon for them to die.
Death always leaves you thinking about your life. Life is so precious and I feel if you are not happy where you are, you need to do something about it. But it can be hard and scary to at times to take chances by doing something that you’ve always wanted to do.
Here are some steps you can take to start thinking about taking chances and doing the things in life that you always wanted to do -
Make a list - think about all the things you have wanted to do in life but never do them. Write them all down and plan the times when and how you will do them.
Find an accountability partner - I have a found one and it really helps me to stay on top of my goals. Every week we have a 1 hour call to discuss our goals. At the end of each call, we write down 3 goals that we want to accomplish for the week. It really works! I have managed to do a lot of things that I kept pushing off.
Network - it always helps to meet new people. Whether you are looking for a new job or starting your own business, you want to meet as many people as you can to help you get to where you want to be.
Take a class - “you are never too old to learn new things”. This is so true. There are so many things that we don’t know and if you’re looking to do something new, you most likely need training. There are many classes you can take online or you can still go back to college,
We shouldn’t live our lives worrying that we may die soon. This only causes stress and depression. Instead, we can live each day as though it is our last.
I know that may sound strange, but think about the difference it can make. Instead of saying, “I’ll just do that tomorrow”, we can actually do the things we want to do today! What are we waiting for anyway?
My accountability partner, Jennifer, said to me today that I keep talking about writing a book and I sound happy when I talk about it. She asked me then what is holding you back from writing it. I didn’t have a good answer.
Guess what my goal is for next week? Yes, I’m going to start on my book. I’m always talking about it so now I’m going to take the first steps to do something about it.
You can do the same. This week start the one thing that you keep talking about, but haven’t started yet. If you are not doing it, ask yourself why not.
Fear may be stopping you. It has stopped me. You have to tell yourself that there is nothing to be afraid of. Just take baby steps. I guarantee you will feel better just because you tried.
Remember it’s never too late to start.
Tell me in the comments below what you are going to start doing this week.
Here’s to your success!
Best,
Rene
This is in memory of Claudia and Pete whose lives were taken from us too soon but they will never be forgotten.
