Is your job making you unhappy?
I have to ask myself this question a lot because the answer can be very different depending on the day. If you are passionate about what you do, that usually helps in finding happiness with the job.
Sometimes you may not be passionate about your current job, but you can still find happiness.
These are some things I have learned to do when I’m feeling unhappy with my job:
List your accomplishments - Write down all the areas where you have added value in your current role. This will help you start to think differently about your role and also help you think about what your passion is.
Don’t complain - I find when I complain about something it makes me feel so much worse. Now I try to think about how I can find a solution to make things better.
Focus on the positive - there are always going to be things we do not like about a job, but if you want to be happier, focus on the good things. Maybe it’s your colleague who has become a friend or you have a manager who doesn’t suck - that’s important!
Life is too short to be unhappy. If you are unhappy with your job, it really impacts your life because you spend most of your day there.
Take the time to find the things that will make you happier.
Here’s to your success!
Best,
Rene
