Stay calm and live your life…
As I’m writing this, I’m feeling fear and panic. It’s a very scary time and one we have never experienced before. I’m worried about my family, friends, and the world. That is a lot of worries to take on for anyone.
I have to tell myself to be rational and optimistic about the future. I do feel a little better that the government has acknowledged that we need more aid including free testing and paid sick leave. This is a good start.
Companies have also started to embrace social distancing by allowing people to work from home. This is really important to contain the spread of the virus. I travel to work on the train and I know it can be easily spread within 2 feet of a person. The best thing I can do for myself, my family, and my colleagues is work from home.
We all need to be diligent in not only thinking about ourselves, but also how we can impact the lives of others if we unintentionally spread this virus. The reason I say unintentionally is that most of us do not yet know if we may have it. Hopefully, the testing will help us learn who has it and who has been exposed so those individuals can be quarantined.
The most important thing right now is to be mindful of where you are going, limit the number of people you will be with, and most importantly wash your hands after every interaction. Keep that hand sanitizer with you at all times. Now more than ever we need to be kind to others. We need each other as we go through this challenging time. Reach out to friends and neighbors to see how you can help.
Stay safe, stay calm, and pray that this goes away quickly! We can all work together to contain this thing!
Here’s to your health!
